Alabama Chapter of Basic Trauma Life Support changes name to reflect global scope.

The Alabama Chapter of Basic Trauma Life Support, a leading provider of training for pre-hospital trauma care in Alabama, has changed it's name to the "Alabama Chapter of International Trauma Life Support."

ITLS recently changed it's name at the international level to reflect the growth and impact of the organization over the last 25 years.  We're changing our chapter name today to communicate our partnership with ITLS and ITLS chapters around the world.

From a small regional program that began in Alabama, ITLS has become the world's most recognized and respected authority in pre-hospital trauma care training.  The Alabama Chapter of ITLS will begin using it's new name and logo immediately.  The chapter will work closely with government agencies and other organizations in Alabama to incorporate the new name into training-related regulations and materials.

The content of the training courses provided by the Alabama Chapter of ITLS will not change; however, over time all course names and materials will transition from BTLS to ITLS.  The chapter will provide new ITLS certification cards to BTLS-certified providers in Alabama when they complete their next recertification or refresher courses.

ITLS is a global organization dedicated to preventing death and disability from trauma through education and emergency trauma care.  The Alabama Chapter of ITLS is one of 70 ITLS chapters in cities, states, countries, and regions around the world.
